New Years Eve Mani!

I used 1 coat Orly Bonder Base coat
2 coats Color Club Sugar Plum Fairy
and stamped using BM-201 plate, stamped with Wet N Wild Wild Shine in Black Creme.
1 coat of Out The Door Quick Dry Top coat before and after stamping.

I recently got the Bundle Monster 25 piece stamping kit, and this is my second mani with it.
On the left is my 214 plate, and the right is my 203.
I got a messed up plate! The image was cut too far down!
None of the designs are defective though!

And on a side note, a friend- Thanks Lawana!- recommended to me a nail polish remover that I've been loving!
It's made by Target's in store brand, Up and Up, and it's called "Dip It."
It retails for $2.24 (or was it $2.42? lol)
It's like those little nail polish remover containers, where you screw the cap off, and it has a sponge inside that you dip your nail in- except it's a scrub brush made of plastic! Since it's plastic, it's non porous, so only the liquid gets saturated with old polish. You can dump the polish remover at any time and replace it!
It comes with straight acetone- which I'm not a fan of, but I'm using it until it gets dirty. I plan on using non acetone polish remover in it, when I replace the liquid.
This is what it looks like on the inside! Thanks to Candyce for the photo!
This removes glitter polishes like it's nothing!!!!

I'm going out to watch fireworks and watch a "crab pot" drop, instead of a ball-
seriously, I live in a small town by the ocean, and they do strange things like that- and hang out with some friends I've known since middle school. :)
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year- please stay safe!
Don't be afraid to ask for a D.D., call a Taxi, or spend the night with a friend- please don't drink and drive!
I know a lot of people are struggling with fiancial issues this year- I hope 2012 is a lot more abundant for all of the struggling families out there.

Happy New Year!

Recent Mani's

This is the mani I rocked on Christmas!
I used 1 coat Orly Bonder Base Coat, 1 coat Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet, 1  coat OPI Spark De Triumphe, 1 coat Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet, 2 coats Confetti Tazmanian Devil, and 1 coat INM Out The Door Quick Dry Top coat. (So many coats!)

This was the mani I rocked the week before Christmas- I wore this for 7 days straight! I just kept touching up the tips when I got a chip, or tip wear.
I used 1 coat Orly Bonder Basecoat, 2 Coats Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet, taped off a section for the tips, and used Sally Hansen Insta Dri Jumpin' Jade, and then taped off the other section, and used Color Club Holiday Splendor, then 1 coat INM Out The Door Quick Dry Top Coat.

For Christmas, I got the 25 piece Bundle Monster Nail Stamping Plates set, and it finally came yesterday. I played around with it for about 3 hours, and then this is what I settled on, as my first fauxnad-icure.

I used 1 coat Orly Bonder Base Coat, 1 coat Revlon Carbonite, Stamped with Wet and Wild Wild Shine Black Creme and Bundle Monster plate BM-215.
It's going to take me awhile to figure out how to do this better, but I love the idea of it!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!

What I have to say:
If I could sum this up, I'd say "sadface." I was excited to try these, because I LOVE nail art, but I don't have a steady enough hand for nail art. The coolest part, was that in my Holiday Vox Box from Influenster, I received my favorite design on these! I looked at the website and my favorite design was definitely D060 Over The Moon- which was the one I got!
Fun fact: most people know the spokesperson for these, Nicole Sherzinger, from The X-Factor, but did you know she is a member of The Pussycat Dolls?! ("Don'tcha baby, dont'cha!)

The first thing I have to say about these: The packaging. It's definitely cute with it's nail polish bottle design, but it is NOT functional. I could NOT figure out how to open this...I had to get my boyfriend to open the package for me...I seriously couldn't figure out.
It would have been beneficial to have instructions on the carton.

Second thing I have to say: ohmygosh these smell like straight up nail glue. Even 10 minutes after I opened the package, I could smell nail polish glue in the air.

Sadly, the third thing: they're too small for my nails! :( My natural nails are too long for these, so I was unable to wear them! I was so excited to rock the red and gold nails on Christmas too! :( So I'm giving them to a friend with shorter nails. I wish they would make these in a longer size, so I could try them out!

D060 Over The Moon-- See how pretty the design is!!!  It looks like it was designed after water marbling!!

A friend of mine also got a pair in the Vox Box, and she said they weren't too short for her nails, but they were all too wide. With revision, I could see these being a good product, but as of right now, I think they have the problem that most press on nails have- they're not a universal fit.

*I received this free for testing from Influenster in my Holiday Vox Box. For more information on Influenster, visit www.influenster.com

NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine Review

(NYC's promo image)
Here's the info on these lipglosses:

Straight from the city that never sleeps, NYC New York Color offers products with uptown style at down-to-earth prices, from $.99 - $4.99. The energy, style and color of New York City shines through the wide range of shades, textures and innovative products. NYC always delivers the most on-trend products & shades hot off the runway!

A beauty-editor favorite is Liquid Lipshine ($2.49). It has pure pigments that created a 3-D gloss effect. Vitamin E provides shine and a moisturizing feel. The formula is non-sticky, super shiny & soft. Available in 10 on-trend shades from neutral nudes, to berries & fuchsias. Start shopping for NYC at these stores nearest you: Walmart, Target, Rite Aid, CVS, Family Dollar, Duane Reade, Kmart, HEB, and others.  Visit newyorkcolor.com to check out all shades and fun products from New York Color!

My opinion:
I really like this! I received the shade, "Nude York City," which is awesome because I don't own any nude lipglosses. This is a peachy nude with shimmer. It's sheer enough to not look concealer-nude, which is why I have a hard time picking out nude lip products- they always wash me out! I think this would work for all skintones and ages.

Like claimed, this lipgloss is not sticky. It has reasonable staying power. I wore it at work, didn't eat or drink anything, and it was starting to fade within 3 hours.
It's easy to apply without a mirror- do you see that curve in the applicator wand, it fits your lip perfectly. If you have very large lips, it might not fit correctly, but precise application isn't necessary with a sheer gloss. It has a nice vanilla scent.

NYC Liquid Lipshine in 528 Nude York City

I'd just like to input that NYC makes one of my favorite mascaras! Sky Rise Extreme Lengthening Mascara is my favorite lengthening mascara- I've been using it daily!
It made it into my 2011 favorites Here and I posted a mini review with pictures about it Here.
You can also see it in my October, November, and December FOTDs.

Mentos Gum: Worth risking losing a limb for?

What's Your Mentos Pure Fresh Moment?

Asking your guy to find something in your purse, is like asking him to take out the trash. Men always think of a woman's purse as a big, black hole. Many times, I'll say, "Hey, Babe, can you look in my purse for my keys," and my boyfriend will reply, "Can't find them!"
So then I come into the room, look in my purse, and they're sitting right on top of everything.
Did he not see them, or was he just scared of losing his arm in my black-hole-of-a-purse?
This happens often. Things go missing in my purse often.
I received Mentos Pure Fresh Gum in my Influenster Holiday Vox Box, when I opened the box, I gave my boyfriend a piece of the gum. Then I hurried off to work, and threw it in my purse.

The next day, we went to the bank, and I left my purse in the car. When I came out of the bank, I see my boyfriend's arm shoving something in the "big, scary black hole," and as I get closer to the car, I realize he's chewing gum.
He faced the scary beast searching in a woman's bottomless purse to find the Mentos Pure Fresh gum- but of course didn't want me to know that the contents of the purse won't harm him, and are in fact, easier to find then he may have previously thought.

You can check out more products from mentos at www.mentos.com

* I received Mentos Pure Fresh Gum in the Fresh Mint flavor from Influenster for review purposes.
My Mentos Pure Fresh Moment blog post is an entry to a contest held by Influenster.

Every time I

find something that I love, it gets discontinued!
First, Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Blush- and now the whole Colorburst line is getting discontinued.
Victoria's Secret Love Spell in the Eau de Toilet
my favorite Victoria's Secret Secret Embrace bra
what used to be my favorite Maybelline concealer
my favorite Secret deoderant
and the list goes on, and on.
But this happens to everyone, right?

Well, even though a lot of products leave us, we get new ones in return.
I can't WAIT for all the new makeup displays I've been hearing about!

I've seen the new Revlon displays with lip butters, the airbrush makeup, the face sculpting palette, the gel liner, etc.
The new Loreal cream eyeshadows, the Maybelline eye tattoo eyeshadows, etc.

Old products must leave, and new ones come it- that's just how it goes.
But I wish they'd take away some of the less popular products! I know a lot of people love the Revlon Colorburst lipstick line!

I hope everyone is having an amazing holiday today!
I had to work last year on Christmas Eve and Christmas, so I'm super excited to have both days off of work this year!
aaaand tomorrow is my boyfriend's birthday, too!

I hope everyone has an amazing day tomorrow too, and gets to spend time with your loved ones. I hope you feel all warm and tingly inside when someone smiles while opening a present you gave them!
Have a merry Christmas!
Don't forget to leave cookies out for Santa!

MIA!

Sorry I've been so MIA lately, everybody!
I've been so busy with holiday get to-gethers, work, my boyfriend's birthday coming up(on Christmas), that I haven't had time to blog!
After work, I've been spending all day out, so I can't wait to sleep in on Saturday!
BUT I did go to CVS and pick up a few things at the Beauty Clearance sale.
I spent $11, and my total should have been $52- it was AMAZING. Here's what I got:
Physician's Formula Cream Gel Liners for Green Eyes, Physician's Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation in Translucent Medium, Rimmel Blush in Autumn Catwalk, Rimmel Blush in Pink Sorbet, Wet N Wilds Vanity Palette.

I also got some new makeup from a friend, I received my Influenster Holiday Vox Box, and I'm getting makeup for Christmas. (I feel so overwhelmed! lol)
My boyfriend and I both picked out our own presents, I chose the UD Naked Palette, The Bundle Monster 25pc Nail Stamping Plates(scraper and stamper too), a Revlon Lip Butter, 4 Milani (HOLO!!!) polishes, a Milani eyeliner, and a Milani blush. (Milani stuff was 50% off from the Cyber Monday sale!) Plus a few odds and ends- a few ELF $1 items and Revlon Carbonite.
I'm SO excited! I really am not going to need any makeup for a LONG time.
Which gets me thinking that I need to start swatching my collection and blogging about items I love and use regularly- so look for those posts coming soon.
My new year's resolution is to not buy so much makeup- I really need to be saving money!

I got my mom MAC Viva Glam V Lipstick for Christmas! I don't own any MAC makeup, but my mommy is one special lady! :)
She got it today, and said it's perfect! I can't wait to see a picture of her wearing it though!

Not sure how much blogging I'll be getting done until after the year ends, but hopefully I won't be missing in action for long!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my followers!
May you all have a joy filled week!

Blog Giveaway Winner!

I used True Random Number Generator to pick the winner for my giveaway. I put all of the entries in a spreadsheet. The first person that entered, had two entries, so her numbers were 1 and 2. I did this for all of the entries. I took a screen shot of the random generator's choice, and a screen shot of the spreadsheet I used. I strategically placed masquerade masks to conceal the last names...DRUM ROLLLL PLEASEEEE! The winner is Samantha C.!
I already contacted Samantha, and she replied right away!
Funny thing though, I chose two numbers. One for the winner, and one as a back up in case the winner didn't respond by Tuesday. The numbers picked were 18 and 21...and somehow, they were both Sam's entries! (Unfortunately, my computer froze and I didn't get a screen grab of "21", because it refreshed and changed the number!) Sam is getting the Color Club Beyond The Mistletoe Holiday Glitters Set! Merry Christmas Sam!  Samantha has recently started a blog, you can check it out Here.

Congrats, Samantha!

Blue and Gold Nails

I decided to paint my nails, but knew I had some cleaning to do.
Welllll, I just threw on a quick dry top coat and hoped for the best.
After about 5 minutes, I started cleaning.
I know, I know, I should have painted my nails after I cleaned, but I got a new polish set the other day that has been screaming at me to use them. (Well not screaming, but you understand. lol)
I got Orly's Birds of a Feather gift set from Sally's Beauty Supply. $8 for 3 full size (amazing) Orly polishes...I was very happy.
I used Sweet Peacock- its a seriously bright blue foil.
Well...it smudged and had knicks all in it.
Instead of taking my manicure off and starting over, I just added a crackle polish over it, whaddyah know- brand new again!
I used 1 coat Orly Bonder Base Coat
2 coats Orly Sweet Peacock
1 coat Out The Door  Quick Dry Topcoat
then I cleaned, smudged, and nicked and added
1 coat Color Club Gold Crackle
1 more coat of OTD Topcoat

This manicure makes me think of high school because my high school colors were blue and gold...which makes me chant in my head, "Blue and gold, blue and gold!"
I liked this mani because it was a combo I wouldn't normally choose. I only have 2 crackle polishes- white and gold, and I loved how the gold was metallic in the same way the blue base was. What do you think?

30 Day Makeup Challenge

I started a 30 day makeup challenge with some friends on facebook, and while I probably won't post all 30 days of pictures here, I figured i'd at least try to share some of them.
My friend, Samantha, made up the 30 "challenges."
Yesterday (Day 1) was "Let's Get Naked!" -simple neutrals.
I had to get up at 5:30 am, so simple neutrals worked out well! Here's my look:
and Day 2 was "Ice Ice Baby!" All about blues! Here's my look:

This is a lot of fun! We might extend it to 45 days because everyone seems to enjoy it so much. I had today off of work, so I had a lot of time to play with my makeup and put together the two pic. collage. But three days a week, I have to wake up at 5:30 am for work, so we'll see how those days come together!

P.S. Have you entered my giveaway yet?

Lip Fun!

I'm so excited about this post! I got bored today, and decided to go do some creative stuff with my makeup.
For those of you who don't know me IRL- when I first started using makeup, I started using super bright eye makeup. Through my teens, this was the only makeup I wore.
Brights are something I know how to work with- whereas I haven't gotten into neutral makeup until the past year or so. It was hard going from in your face to subtle, but beauty blogs have definitely helped me out along the way.
So today I played with some very fun lip ideas- that are obviously not every day wearable. These photos haven't been edited in anyway- not even cropped. Yes- I made my hair messy like that on purpose. lol

I didn't do any research- I came up with these on my own. If anyone has done anything similar-I wasn't aware. But if you have done something similar, I'd love to see!
What do you think? Would you be daring enough to rock these outside of your house?

Have you entered my giveaway yet?

And in case you missed it, here a swatch of one of the polishes included in the giveaway.

Walgreens Rants & Raves

I went to Kmart today in search of the new Essie Collection, and/or the new Revlon nail polish collection (with the renamed Facets of Fuchsia), and in search of a Christmas gift for a friend.
Well, I left Kmart empty handed.
Then I went to CVS, because I remembered I had seen the new Revlon Lip Butters there, and was going to pick one up as part of the gift...The display and everything was gone!
Disappointed, I was going to just head home, but  needed gas- on the way toward the gas station, I happened to be passing Walgreens, so I decided to stop in there quickly.
I walk in the door, and the first thing that greets me is the Wet and Wild Ice Baby Collection.
Better late then never, right?!
I wanted "Diamond In The Rough" SOOO badly- I was even considering buying the Sally Hansen Gem Crush dupe or China Glaze Some Like It Haute- but both of those are close to $7 where I live, so I had a heart attack when I saw the display! I got it for $3!
Right next to the Ice Baby display, is the new Revlon Colorburst lipglosses and the new Revlon holiday polishes. OMG. Those lipglosses are so beautiful! (I didn't get any though.)
THEN directly underneath those displays was the Revlon Expressionists Collection...Again, better late than never, huh?!
I've really been wanting Starry Pink, but I knew they displays were all gone by now. (I guess not!) I already have Blue Mosaic. So I picked up Facets of Fuchsia and Starry Pink.
Then I turn the corner, and whaddyah know, the new Essie Collection on the bottom shelf.
I sank to the floor and my heart dropped! This makeup shopping is really some kind of drug.
All of the new Essie collection in all of it's glory!
I probably should mention I only had $22 on me, so, I didn't get "Shine of The Times" though I want it very badly- there were 4 of them there, so I might go back for one.
THEN I see the Wet and Wild Baked Eyeshadow palettes and the I<3Matte palette.
AGAIN- Better late then never! Were they hoarding all of this stuff in the back, or am I am so far in the middle of nowhere, that it took ages to get these to my Walgreens?
THEN I see the new Revlon nail polish collection with the renamed Facets of Fuchsia-"Scandalous" and at this point, I felt like passing out! haha. How does limited edition makeup do this? I wish I knew.
Oh wait- what's this? Revlon is BOGO 50% off. ARE YOU SERIOUS? I was jumping for joy.
There wasn't anybody at the Cosmetics Counter- (I've been applying for that job for months, HIRE ME! HIRE ME!) so I went to the regular counter and asked if she could tell me if these polishes were BOGO 50% because they're limited edition. They did ring up 50% off, but they rung up as $5.49 each, when the sign said $4.99...what?
So I said something, and she called the cosmetics girl to her counter and brought me over to her. THREE cosmetics girls showed up- I guess that's why they haven't given me a call at all!
And I explained blah blah that they rung up differently then the sign.
So the manager said WELL take the sign down, because they're $5.49-(we're talking about Facets of Fuschia at this point.)
And I said, well that's weird because I've bought one from that display (from a different Walgreens) before and it was $4.99. (Blue Mosaic) and she said well then the price went up. (Even though the sign clearly said $4.99)
And I said...buttt...umm...they re-released this under a different name in the permanent collection, and you have it sitting over here for $4.99.
All three cosmetics girls had no idea that a. Scandalous is now Facets of Fucshia, B. That it was re-released, or c. had any idea what the Expressionists Collection was.
C'mon, PEOPLE!
So needless to say, they all stared at my like I had ten heads, and was wondering how in the world I knew this, and I'm screaming in my head, HIRE ME HIRE ME!
So, I got both Facets of Fuschia for $4.99, BOGO 50% off, and Wet and Wild Diamond in The Rough.

I know this was a long, ranting post, but I feel like I had to tell someone about my experience, and the beauty bloggers are the only ones that really understand knowing every drugstore collection before it comes out, checking every drugstore for new collections, that rush when you FIND the collection you've been looking for, and the never ending cycle of wanting to buy makeup. Honestly, I WANTED the girl behind the counter to say, "Yeah? Well did you know that Facets of Fuschia is a "Bad Romance" Dupe?" ...but she didn't...she had no idea.

I didn't come across any Revlon Lip Butters, nor did I get a gift for my friend, but I did find some exciting things that after thinking about, I can go back and get for her. I was in no condition to make rational decisions after seeing all of those limited edition displays.
...
I think at this point I need makeup rehab.
